Scarborough jewellers Bright & Sons has been dedicated to luxury jewellery and antique jewellery for more than 150 years.
At our family jewellers – which became part of H. L. Brown in 1957 – customers can find a vast range of fine new or pre-owned jewellery and watches.

Luxury jewellery
Accordingly, every diamond we supply that is half a carat or more is accompanied by a diamond report from a professional, independent testing laboratory.
To offer something truly out of the ordinary, we are also stockists of a fine collection of two very special stones. These include Blue John jewellery, starring a semi-precious mineral found only in the nearby county of Derbyshire and Whitby Jet, a mineraloid gemstone found locally in the historic, coastal town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Antique jewellery and pre-owned jewellery
Many pieces in our collection are exclusive to the H L Brown group and not found elsewhere.
In our aim to add new and interesting pieces to our stock of pre-owned jewellery, we are also always happy to look at any pieces of antique jewellery, watches or silver you may be looking to sell.

Our History
Bright & Sons founders, Frederick and Herbert Bright established the business in 1857. It became part of the H L Brown group of family jewellers exactly 100 years later, in 1957.
It continues to occupy the same charming original period premises in the picturesque coastal town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Frederick and Herbert Bright originated from Sheffield in South Yorkshire but relocated themselves and their business to be close to the sea and recuperate from ill health.
Subsequently Bright & Sons of Scarborough then became a well-respected, knowledgeable luxury jewellers and watchmaker in the seaside town.
In 2022, the historic Scarborough jewellers underwent a full refurbishment, sympathetic to its original period features.
The range available at our store also includes the spectacular in-house designed and manufactured Harris and Leon collection of engagement rings. This collection was named after the H L Brown business founder, Harris Leon Brown.

We are pleased to offer an impressive range of additional services which include repairs and restorations, gem testing and jewellery re-design/re-modelling. Besides this, special order enquiries are welcome as are part exchange transactions.
We can assist you through the process of probate and valuations for insurance as well as family division, with valuation work undertaken by our company NAJ Registered Valuer, Georgi Anderson.
