H. L. Brown help improve Sheffield’s environment

Posted on 4th July 2025 by Kerri Amos

H. L. Brown’s Directors and staff from the Sheffield Barker’s Pool showroom have taken part in a day of community engagement with the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust this summer, to help improve the City’s riverside environment.

The company has previously worked with local charities and organisations to undertake vital work in the community, that helps improve the environment for residents, wildlife and businesses. In June, our directors and staff equipped themselves in protective clothing as they have done previously and took to the banks of the River Porter to clear litter and restore overgrown areas by the water.

Managing Director, James Frampton said, “We’re really pleased to be able to join the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust to play a part in keeping our city clean and improving areas for local communities. This is the second time we have partnered with them. Not only is it a brilliant team building exercise for our staff, but it has a greater environmental benefit too – improving accessibility to these areas and creating a safer area for native wildlife. Our aim as a long-standing, independent Sheffield business is to give back to our city to assist and benefit everyone.”

As a registered charity, the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust’s aims are to restore Sheffield’s wildlife habitats, celebrate Sheffield’s heritage, adapt to climate change, ensure continuous public access to areas and engage in river stewardship. The benefits of their work are vast and multi-functional around the city as Sheffield continues its redevelopment in multiple areas.
